Harvest for Hope 5k Walk/Run
Walk, run, skip or jump! Bring your kids or your neighbors to Canyon del Oro High School’s track on Saturday, October 1 at 5 pm for the Sixth Annual Harvest for Hope 5k Walk/Run. Harvest for Hope is a community event designed to bring hope to those who struggle to feed their families.
We’ve been “uprooted” by construction!
For those of you who have participated in the past, you’ll notice we have a new location this year. Unfortunately, the path we typically use on Lambert Lane will be torn up for road construction. But we’d like to thank CDO High School for jumping in and allowing us use of their track so we can still hold the event!
Giving back to those in need
It is hard to believe, but in our own community many people go to bed hungry at night. The Harvest for Hope 5k brings our community together to supply many families with the food they desperately need.
Participants walking or running this event do not pay an entry fee — we just ask that they bring a bag of non-perishable food that is donated to Catalina Community Services (CCS) and distributed to needy families. All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and the first 500 people to register will receive a t-shirt and be entered in to a raffle held immediately following the 5k.
We have raised more than 15,000 pounds of food since Harvest for Hope started. This year we hope to raise a bounty of food donations, as the food bank is in even greater need. The CCS’s food bank provides emergency food assistance to 40% more families than last year.
